Located in the heart of Addis Ababa on Bole Road, CoSpace, a new co-working space that is on a mission to provide a workspace that boosts the productivity and well-being of professionals, has opened its doors.
CoSpace provides a fully-furnished facility to its members with access to Wi-Fi and basic office equipment such as a photocopier, scanner, and a printer, together with complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks.
Situated on the third floor of Bahar Building, across from Getu Commercial Building, CoSpace covers an area of 1000sqm.
CoSpace is co-founded by two individuals, Alamin Faris and Kidist Tesfaye, who share a passion and their own journey in the Ethiopian startup ecosystem.
Alamin is the founder and CVO of Wennovate Consult, an impact investment, and development advisory firm. Meanwhile, Kidist, with a background in finance, is the founder and CEO of Yene Health, a fem-tech startup committed to women’s sexual, reproductive and maternal health in Ethiopia.
CoSpace has two meeting rooms: with the biggest one enough for 30 people. The center offers premium and open interior spaces for professional communities with a modern-day design, and it can accommodate 50 people at a time, without including the meeting rooms.
CoSpace also plans to not only offer space to work but also strive to advance their member’s health, creativity, professional growth, and wellness simultaneously.
“The co-working space is built to fit all types of businesses. No sector stands alone, and we are here to be part of the whole ecosystem,” said Alamin.
Bi-weekly yoga sessions, startup corner on Fridays where startups are invited, not only members, to come and network, and Art In Addis, a weekly art show, also take place at CoSpace. Open to the community of techies, entrepreneurs, professionals, and creatives, the space is open from 8 am to 7 pm from Monday to Friday and from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturdays’.
‘We plan to make CoSpace accessible 24/7 in a few months,” added Alamin.
At CoSpace, a day pass plan costs 230 birr. Meanwhile, weekly and monthly memberships cost 800 birr and 2500 birr, respectively, without VAT.
Addis Ababa welcomed its first co-working space, iceaddis, in 2011. Now the city hosts several co-working spaces in different areas, such as bluespace, Sheger Hive, Pro Office, and the Urban Center. CoSpace is also working on expanding its co-working space into another floor in the same building.
